digital pirate
i have just realised i can start putting down a list of mass-media that has shaped me over the years. i'm gonna be as honest as my legal advisor would permit, and list them down here. maybe it'll give you an insight on how i got to the pink and wobbly state of mind i usually find myself in.

by the way, for some reason i find myself drawn to warm colours...RED....and pink too. more for shock effect and the fact it can be pleasant haha. it's always interesting to see the look on ppls faces when i take off my shoes and blind them with my red socks, or for my preference to pink coloured items at random moments.

:D

anyways, i'm off topic, back to the list, in no particular order, other than my scattered brain processes and patched memory...

books/stuff i have read/seen/heard that stick in my head.

the bible - so sue me, it was one of the thickest books i ever read when i was a kid, other than the phone directory. now that i think about it, i never did read it from cover to cover. Just all the exciting bits XD.

calvin and hobbes, by bill waterson - when i first read it at circa age 6~12 i couldn't get half of what he was saying, but i was drawn to it nonetheless, i always had that feeling i would get the jokes later. and true enough i did, and so much more. the little wisdoms and insights on life and people have changed me or affected me a lot. taught me to be more mature and to find the funny or absurd side to life that's always there, but not seen by many. he also has eye candy to offer.

terry pratchett, the discworld books, and others - one of the few writers whose work i am so comfy with that any book by him is considered worth buying even without thinking. His thoughts of life led me to another level of bizzare, but always had this underlying seriousness that there is still hope for humanity, despite the fact that most of the time we are headed for our own oblivion.

sandman, by neil gaiman. - eye candy and the occult. and brain wrenching plotlines.

sesame street - i still like the show. there's always some adult satire thrown in, start em young i say. but i don't watch it anymore. it's called a failure in negotiations between my sense of maturity and sense of curiosity. that and i never seem to know when they air it on TV.

webcomics - the whole plethora of them. you can see my link box for those which i frequent. it's due for an update soon. :P

national geographic and reader's digest. - nothing recent mind you, it's cos there's a few shelves in my house of these from as early as i think the early 60's, maybe earlier, and nothing more recent than the late 80's methinks. it's amazing how little as well as how much we've changed. there's still good stuff in those pages. one of those things which give me something new everytime i read them evey 2 years or so.

anime and manga - at first it was doraemon and dragonball, then cardcaptor sakura and smurai X, in BM or in local newstands and television. then came the advent of cd burners and broadband. then came kazaa and bit torrent. it's a pretty wide scope these works, some make you laugh, some make you think, some educate, some are bimbotic, but yeah, they're there if you wanna know major influences in my life.

the internet - in all it's glory and guts. having information and knowing how to get it at your fingertips. there was a period when i sourced almost everything from the net, basically on the premise that it was easier, which was true most of the time. but till there's a comprehansive archive of actual printed material on the information superhigway, i'll give the good `ol library more frequent flyer miles.

Monty Python - do i need to explain? comedy that still is funny today as it was almost 1/2 a century ago. some jokes may seem stale, but then again, they were the first to do most of em, they were the pioneers. they're all from havard or cambridge i think and they come up with lines like "drop your panties sir william, i cannot wait until lunchtime".

so that's all i can think of at the moment. now back to watching episodes of sex and the city. which is looking to be another step in my education on popular culture in the hopes of understanding the way people go about these things, and to see those fabulous outfits haha.
